What is a Clerk of Works?

  The Clerk of Works is a person usually employed by the Client although sometimes by the Architect or Project Manager on Construction Projects. The role is to represent the interests of the
  Client to make certain that the Contractor complies with the design, specification and drawings and ensures a high quality of materials and workmanship.

  What Benefit Will We Gain From Engaging A Clerk of Works?

  We believe that through knowledge and past experience and by adopting a proactive approach, the Clerk of Works can ensure that the project is built correctly in accordance with the Clients
  requirements to achieve a high quality and professional finish. This approach and our ‘do it once and do it right’ ethos will assist in achieving completion on time and within  budget. This in
  the long term can also reduce the whole life cost of the building and consequently provide savings to the Client.

  Can You Provide Clerks of Works of Different Disciplines?

  Yes – We are able to provide Clerks of Works for traditional building, civil engineering and mechanical & electrical installations. Clients may only  require one  discipline  for  their  project or
  alternatively we are able to provide a structured service utilising Clerks of Works of varying disciplines visiting site or resident  on  site  as  determined by work  in  progress  at any  one time.

  Can You Offer A Part-Time or Full-Time Service?

  Yes – We are able to tailor our service to suit Client requirements ranging from one or two visits per week on smaller schemes up to one or more Clerks of Works  full-time  resident on site
  for larger projects.

  Your Office Location is in Evesham, Worcestershire – Can you Provide A Service Elsewhere?

  Yes – We are able to provide Clerks of Works Services throughout the United Kingdom having previously worked in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

  Will The Clerks of Works Submit Written Reports?

  Yes – We have our own reporting procedures including Daily Activities Report, Weekly Status Report, Report for Site Meeting, Schedule of Defects and Clerk of  Works  Directions. Wherever
  possible, these reports are completed and distributed to the Client Team  electronically. Alternatively, our Clerks of Works  can adopt  the Clients existing  procedures  if  required. They  will
  also maintain a photographic record if appropriate.

  Is Your Company Quality Assured?

  Yes – The  Company  operates  Quality  Assurance Procedures in  accordance  with ISO  9001:2008. Our  systems  are  audited  and  certified  by  SGS UK  Limited with whom we originally
  achieved full accreditation with on 29th June 1999.

  Are You Able to Cover Sickness & Holidays?

  Yes – For  planned  absences  we can  make arrangements  to  provide  the  appropriate  level of  cover  for  the  project  including  a  suitable  handover period. For unplanned absences or
  emergencies, we will respond as quickly as possible to ensure continuity of service.

  What Technical Support Does The Company Offer The Clerks of Works?

  At all times our Clerks of Works have a full back-up from the Company. As part of this technical support, all Clerks of Works have access  to  technical  information  including  current  British
  Standards, Specifications, Technical Memoranda and Product Information. In the event that  individuals  are  unable  to  access  this  information  from  site, then the relevant details can  be
  accessed and forwarded from Head Office.

  Do You Carry Professional Indemnity Insurance?

  Yes – In association with our £10 million Public and £10 million Employers Liability Insurances, we also carry Professional Indemnity Insurance which is currently  limited to  £1 million  for
  each and every claim.
