Construction of a new plant tower to facilitate the planned major redevelopment of The London Clinic. The scheme consisted of an eight storey steel frame building on top of a reinforced concrete basement and clad with terracotta tiles and baguettes. It has been designed to house all capital plant for the facility and the baguettes are removable to allow additional plant and equipment to be hoisted into position in future projects.
The project was administered under the NEC 3 Form of Contract and was constructed in the middle of a working hospital environment. It was vitally important that delivering the project within the limited working hours at the Clinic, with particular care taken in the phasing of work and the methods of construction used to minimise the impact of construction work on nearby residents and recovering inpatients.
